The warm tropical weather in Brazil extends north from Rio de Janeiro for most of the year. South of Rio: São Paulo, Santa Catarina, Paraná and Rio Grande do Sul states have generally of warm summers with colder winters. The seasons are opposite to those in the Northern Hemisphere so winter is from June through September. Summer generally runs from November through March. The average temperature during summer ranges from 25 to 40°C (75 to 100°F).
